Mission Statement
DB Spots Trends started in September 2022, with a Twitter account intended to share bets with some research. That Twitter page has grown now to a following of over 750, in addition to a functional website, a Telegram Channel for me to broadcast my picks, and a Telegram Group for the wider community to share their ideas.
Growth has not been linear, there have been a lot of lessons learned along the way, and I have used those to alter my strategy and content, although the primary aim has never faltered:
My goal is to provide value.
I do not write primarily for likes, or followers. I write to provide value.
If I was the only one reading my content, I would still write. If nobody was tailing my bets, I would still post them.
I mentioned the Twitter page has existed for just short of 2 years, and progress hasn’t been linear.
After 3 months of posting, I had 11 followers. After 1 year of posting, I had 139 followers. In the last 2 months, I have gained 200 followers.
I can attribute a lot of growth recently to the community, connecting with some incredible people who have supported me, but also reacting to the data. I believe people appreciate consistent, quality work. Making the highest-quality work, and posting it regularly is completely within the realms of my control, so I have been determined to improve them. As my work has become of a more consistent, improved quality, I have experienced paralleled growth.
Followers are fleeting, constantly changing, and therefore it would be trivial to aim to entirely cater to them. However, if more people are following, liking the content, commenting, joining the Telegram Channels or even just reading the articles on a consistent bases, I know I am doing something right.
My mission is to continue to improve the content I push out, and keep it as regular as possible. I hope to use the data at hand, and the opinions of others to iteratively improve consistently.
As a by-product, I hope to provide you with some winners. I must reinforce, however, that results are outside of my control, and so I try not to worry about them too much. Fortune fluctuates, everything has a natural flow that cannot be broken, interrupted or re-routed, so I cannot fixate my attention on external factors. The work in front of me is within my control, and that is what I dedicate myself to improving.
I want to build something authentic, something real. Something built on the values I (try to) adhere to; honesty, transparency, creativity, innovation.
No shortcuts, no excuses. I appreciate it will take time, patience and persistence, but deep is where the gold is buried – only through full commitment can you experience the treasure.
This is how I currently feel, but I also accept that I will inevitably change. I might adopt new values. I might look back in one years’ time and think to myself, ‘What was I doing then? ‘ Expecting improvement, I might pivot to different strategies, although the underlying motivation will always remain the same – how I can continue to provide value.
