Club World Cup Outright Selections
Juventus Team Top Goalscorer: Randal Kolo-Muani @ 5.0 (bet365)
Randal Kolo-Muani joined Juventus on a 6-month loan deal in January from PSG – it did not include a buy-clause, just a straight loan. The Frenchman settled in immediately, netting 5 goals in his first 3 league games for the Italian side.
Kolo-Muani finished the season with 8 goals in 13 starts – ranking second in the scoring charts for the Bianconeri despite joining halfway through the campaign – just 2 goals behind Dusan Vlahovic who started 21 games. In fact, the Serbian was benched towards the end of the season to accomodate Kolo-Muani, which was entirely justified. Vlahovic ranked 5th of all Serie A players for total Big Chances Missed (15), with a shot conversion rate of just 13%.
Averaging just 1.5 goals per game in the Serie A last season, Juventus ranked 7th in the league for total goals – whoever plays striker is likely to account for a large chunk of the goalscoring responsibility, and will be on penalties. Vlahovic netted four times from the spot this season, while Kolo-Muani scored one. That one was a winner against Como in the 89th minute – Vlahovic was an unused substitute.
Initially, there were doubts surrounding whether Kolo-Muani would stay, given that his loan was set to expire before the Club World Cup. However, PSG and Juventus have since come to an agreement to extend his loan, which is a massive boost for the Bianconeri. It also means Kolo-Muani is likely to start at the Club World Cup, leading the line for the Italians while Vlahovic warms the bench.
At the time of writing, bet365 have Vlahovic priced at 3.1 to be the Top Scorer for Juventus, while Kolo-Muani is 5.0. Realistically, these prices should be reversed, assuming the end of the season is anything to go off.
Although it’s not yet a market, I’d be curious to see how bet365 price him to also pick up the Golden Ball for the tournament.
